UPDATE #1:  June 19, 2015

~Purchase order being prepared for purchase of iPads for project

~Discussion and beginning planning for artists to perform for schools (2 per school)

~Application to be made for Artist in Schools through City of Barrie, SSAC and Ontario Arts Council

~Survey to be prepared to determine cultural backgrounds of communities

~Survey to be prepared to determine students' understandings of cultural importance

UPDATE #2:  September 29, 2015

~iPads and tech tubs are ordered and should arrive in the next few weeks

~Discussion and beginning planning for artists to perform for schools (2+ per school) – TLLP teachers will be seeing Principal for approval of artist/performance and dates chosen

~Dates have been established for future TLLP meetings as well as a tentative date for the final Arts day for prep teachers

~Survey to determine student’s understandings of cultural importance will be distributed to students in your school.  Data will be collated and used to inform planning.

UPDATE #3:  November 2, 2015

~still waiting for iPads and tubs to arrive – TLLP teachers will continue working with students on understanding cultural contexts in music, dance and drama

~TLLP teachers are compiling a list of resources that will support the project and the arts teachers of SMCDSB

~ARTS twitter is created – check out and follow @smcArtsCulture

~Discussion and beginning planning for artists to perform for schools (2+ per school) – TLLP teachers will be seeing Principal for approval of artist/performance and dates chosen

~survey results are in – generally, students were unclear of what is culture.  Data collected will be used to inform planning.

UPDATE #4: February 29, 2016

~due to the late arrival of IPads, teachers will ask for an extension for their project in order to hold the Arts prep teacher in-service in the fall

~TLLP teachers shared activities, lessons, videos and resources that have been used so far – use of technology has been used to support research and presentations
